Belgian playwright, poet, and essayist (1862–1949) awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1911, whose great play Pelléas and Mélisande formed the basis for music composed by Debussy, Schoenberg, and Sibelius. Highly appealing program for a dinner honoring Maurice Maeterlinck at New York's Lotos Club on January 3, 1920, 11.75 x 16.25, signed along the bottom in dark fountain pen, "Maeterlinck." Affixed to a same-size mount. The program features a menu below, with the upper portion listing several of Maeterlinck's best works, scenes from which are depicted within Thomas A. Sinderlar's wonderful artwork. In fine condition. Samuel L. Clemens, Orson Welles, and President Eisenhower were just a few of the notable members of the Lotos Club.
