ALS signed “M. Van Buren,” one page both sides, 8 x 10, August 26, 1847. Letter to "Mrs. Butler," in part: "I return the enclosed with many thanks for its perusal. Your sweet affection for the young Col. or I should now I presume say Admiral is well merited. Making allowance for the difference of our relations to him you would not feel greater interest in his success than I do. That he will do well & justify the good opinion we entertain of him I do not in the least doubt." In fine condition, with scattered light creasing.
