Irish poet, novelist, dramatist, biographer and collector of folklore (1881-1972) considered one of the leading figures of the Celtic Revival. ALS penned in blue ink on the inside of a 6 x 5 Christmas card, postmarked December 7, 1958, addressed to Charles Burgess at Kansas State Teachers College, in full: “I’m in Ireland over a month now, got degree from Dublin University and so forth, and am engaged to give a series of lectures in the National. This will take me into April. Tell me news about yourself. What’s happening about the Wheelock anthology? The weather here is extraordinarily mild (the summer was wretched) and I’m able to visit many interesting places. I feel tempted to do a new Roads in Ireland book. A happy Christmas.” In fine condition, with a couple of creases through the signature and some handling wear. Includes a second Christmas card, 6.25 x 8.75, signed inside in blue ink by Colum. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in his own hand.
