Description

American educator, temperance reformer, and women's suffragist (1839-1898). ALS signed “Frances E. Willard,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 5 x 8, The Cottage, Reigate letterhead, May 27, 1896. Letter to Dr. Clark, in full: "I was so glad to see that you are registering those who agree to form a prayer league. Can not this be at the busiest hour in the day—from noon to one o’clock? You know the Salvation Army has this hour, the International Women's Chi. [ldren's] Assoc. the WorId's WCTU—and if the Christian Endeavors under your leadership were to take it up, the general conferences assemblies and associations of the Churches would soon follow. What a blessed strength to the Christian cause to have humanity’s heavenliest host on its knees (in heart) by one common impulse around the world! I could not forbear asking, dear and honored brother if you did not think that this might be?" In very good to fine condition, with several horizontal folds.
