Description

American bluegrass and country guitarist and singer (1944-1973) who is best known as a member of the bluegrass ensemble the Kentucky Colonels and the rock band the Byrds, as well as for being a pioneer of the musical genre of country rock during the late 1960s. White died at the age of 29 after being struck by a drunk driver. DS, signed “Clarence J. White,” one page both sides, 6 x 8.75, May 28, 1962. Application for membership in the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA), signed twice at the conclusion by White, and filled out with his personal information. The bottom portion is also annotated to list the commitment as "Jerry Lewis." In fine condition. As a member of the bluegrass band the Kentucky Colonels, White backed Rose Lee and Joe Maphis on a Jerry Lewis television special that aired live on May 29, 1962.
