Description

Blues singer and songwriter (1906-1976) sometimes known as 'Queen Victoria,' who was a pioneering blues recording artist of the 1920s along with greats like Bessie Smith, Mamie Smith, and Alberta Hunter. She co-founded Spivey Records in 1962. TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Spivey Records letterhead, January 25, 1976. Letter to a fan, in part: "About my old 78s. Yes! I have some but I only have one copy and I do treasure them like you….Here's some of my latest catalogues. The last one is the latest. If you are interested in any of them they're just $5.00 each." Stapled to the letter are three pages of Spivey Records catalog flyers, advertising releases from the likes of Lefty Dizz, Sparky Rucker, and Otis Spann. In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
