Description

Manuscript DS, signed “Victoria R,” seven pages both sides, 8 x 12.5, January 19, 1866. Document containing "Instructions for Our Trusty and Well beloved Augustus Frederick William Spencer Loftus Esquire (commonly called Lord Augustus Loftus), Knight Commander of Our Most Honourable Order of the Bath, whom we have appointed Our Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Our Good Brother The King of Prussia." The document outlines 21 articles of instructions for Lord Augustus Loftus in relation to a forthcoming audience with the king of Prussia; interestingly, the document seems to be unfinished. Signed at the head of the first page by Queen Victoria. The white paper seal affixed to the upper left remains fully intact. In fine condition.
