One of Japan's most skilled fliers, Fuchida (1902-1976) commanded the air attack against Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and was the last to leave the battle area. After World War II, Fuchida converted to Christianity and became a nondenominational preacher, traveling frequently to America and later becoming a US citizen. Two items: an ALS, two pages, 8.5 x 11, May 12, 1967, in part: "Many thanks for sending me a U.S.S. Arizona pamphlet which is a kind of my most anxious things to get…Herewith I am enclosing 2 copies of my tract as you are desired by your friends. During the months of June, July and August, I am not making any speaking tour, but I will be under writing my life-story for the Harper & Row Publisher in New York…When it would be published, I would be happy to send you a copy with my author's autograph"; and a pamphlet entitled "From Pearl Harbor to Calvary," three pages, 5.5 x 8.5, signed and inscribed on the front in fountain pen in English and Japanese, "To Mr. & Mrs. Ken Browne, from Capt. Mitsuo Fuchida, Luke 23:34." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in his own hand and incorporating his name in the return address area.
