Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 22 x 17, January 18, 1901. President McKinley appoints Charles J. Sweet as "Postmaster at Black River in the County of Jefferson State of New York." Signed at the conclusion by McKinley, and countersigned by Postmaster General Charles Emory Smith. Lower left retains the original gold seal and faded blue ribbon. Affixed to a same-size mount. In very good to fine condition, with light staining and toning, and portions of the ribbon missing.
