Description

Former slave (1818-1895) who lent his eloquent, powerful voice to the abolitionist movement, casting a vast influence on both President Abraham Lincoln and the rights of newly emancipated slaves. Partly-printed DS, signed “Fred'k Douglass,” one page, 3.25 x 7.25, August 12, 1884. District of Columbia deed of trust from George Scheuch to John and Katie Stemle. Signed at the conclusion by Douglass as the recorder. Cloth-matted and framed with a portrait to an overall size of 17.25 x 12.75. In fine condition.
