Description

Confederate cavalry general (1824-1864) killed while leading a charge against a superior attacking force at the Battle of Piedmont. Third-person ADS, signed within the text, “W. E. Jones,” one page, 7.75 x 4.75, February 6, 1850. A receipt written by Jones, in part: "Received of W. E. Jones Bvt 2d Lt R.M.R. for quarters for five men from Jan the 12th to Feb 2d 1850 Twelve Dollars & Fifty cents." Signed at the conclusion by a "George Washington" with his mark, "x." In very good condition, with overall creasing, and paper loss to the edges.
