Union general (1830-1909) who participated at Gettysburg and commanded the Army of Tennessee during Sherman’s March to the Sea. TLS signed "Oliver O. Howard," one page, 8.5 x 10.75, Lincoln Memorial University letterhead, June 6, 1908. Letter to General Horatio C. King, in full: "I lecture Thursday, June 25th, at Yellow Springs, Ohio, and if I can come to you so as to be with you the evening of the 26th at Utica, I will do so. It depends, of course, whether they have my lecture in the day time or in the evening of the 25th. If I cannot come to you give my hearty greetings to all our comrades and companions present." In very good to fine condition, with light creasing and old mounting remnants along the edges of the reverse. Accompanied by an engraved portrait of Howard bearing a preprinted signature.
