The sixth Vice President of the United States (1774-1825) who also served as the fourth Governor of New York. ALS as New York governor, one page, 8 x 9.5, July 15, 1811. Letter to Robert Brent, in full: "I have this moment received your communication with the enclosures. The trouble you have taken has much obliged me as the detailed statement enables me to understand the objections so far as relates to that part of the account which falls under your cognisance & to obviate some of them which I can do without inconvenience; such as sending the muster roll of the Oswego detachment so as to entitle me to be reimbursed the am't paid for clothing from 6th to 15th October etc. Although the adjustment of those accounts will ultimately leave me a looser yet I beg you to be assured, that I shall neither complain of or resist any of the deductions made by you as I am sensible they are made in perfect conformity to your duty as an officer." In fine condition.
