McClurg & Company, in which the former "hereby gives and grants…the exclusive right and license to publish, print, and sell" the work Tarzan and the Golden Lion for "a royalty of twenty per cent (20%) upon the retail or catalogue price of all copies of said book sold in the United States." Signed nicely at the conclusion in fountain pen by Burroughs. In very good to fine condition, with edge tears and chips. The novel received a film adaptation in 1927, and starred James Pierce as Tarzan, Dorothy Dunbar as Jane, and Boris Karloff as Owaza, a tribesman.
