McKinley writes to his future secretary of state

TLS as governor, signed “Wm. McKinley, Jr.,” one page, 7.25 x 9.5, State of Ohio, Executive Department letterhead, May 25, 1893. Letter to his future secretary of state, John Sherman, in full: "I take pleasure in asking your kindly interest in Mr. Thomas W. VanSciever, formerly a resident of Franklin county, Ohio, but now living in Los Angeles, California. Mr. Van Sciever has a large circle of friends in this state and he is esteemed very highly." Double-matted and framed with a portrait of McKinley to an overall size of 21.5 x 16. In very good to fine condition, with light overall creasing, and two extra horizontal folds.
