American jazz baritone saxophonist (1923-1957) who played with Boyd Raeburn's short-lived big band, Georgie Auld, Jimmy Dorsey, and Count Basie; he first became well known as one of the 'Four Brothers' reed section in Woody Herman's Second Herd. Unsigned handwritten musical exercise, in pencil, on an 8 x 6.75 musically-lined sheet, one page, both sides, marked in the upper border by Chaloff “(D Major).” Chaloff writes a total of 37 bars of music which he used as part of a lesson for a music student. Includes a letter from the original owner stating, “This was one of many exercise sheets he made out when he gave me lessons in my home.” In fine condition.
