A Hagner Patent, .50-70 cartridge box with blank brass oval plate on the cover flap. The box was converted to hold .45-70 cartridges at some point by removing the original canvas loops, and replacing them with two interior rows for 16 cartridges, along with filler panels of extra brown leather along the interior walls. The leather itself has crazed and flaked along the entire exterior, but the box is still serviceable, although the belt loops and rivets are modern replacements. This is a neat Indian Wars-era cartridge box conversion, and is in very good condition overall.
