Description

Boldly penned ALS as chief justice signed "Wm. H. Taft," two pages on two adjoining sheets, 5.75 x 7.75, Supreme Court of the United States letterhead, April 24, 1922. Letter to Robert Todd Lincoln, in part: "As chairman of the Lincoln Memorial Commission, I am engaged in arranging the program for the dedication on May 30th at 2.30 PM. I would like to call on you at some time convenient to you to submit what is proposed and to receive suggestion from you. I went to see the President this morning to talk with him about it. We would be greatly delighted if you could come to the ceremony and sit with the President and the Commission. Will you kindly let me know when I can look in on you at your home." In fine condition.
