Two TLSs, each one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, dated 1954-1955. The first, dated September 23, 1954, in part: "I am sorry that our commitments will not permit us to comply with your request at this time." The second, dated November 22, 1955, in part: "It was a pleasure to sign the book plates for you…I trust that you are not in the hospital because of illness, but if you are, I hope you will soon be out." In overall fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope for the 1954 letter.
