Description

Enormously popular Czech-born violin virtuoso (1880-1940). Scarce 4.5 x 6.75 cabinet portrait of the young violinist seated in an elaborately engraved chair, floridly signed in the lower border in fountain pen, “Jan Kubelik, 20-II-1902.” Published by Marceau of New York. In fine condition, with a few trivial surface marks. An exceptional example of Kubelik, signed at the age of twenty-two and in the very year he was awarded the gold medal by the Royal Philharmonic Society.
