Description

Canadian astronomer, science writer and discoverer of comets and minor planets, (born 1948) who co-discovered Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 in 1993 with Carolyn and Eugene M. Shoemaker. Three items: two glossy 8 x 10 photos, one of Levy speaking at a podium, the other of the Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9, both signed in metallic ink by Levy, who adds a small comet to each; and an ALS, one page, 8.5 x 11, April 13, 2018, in full: "I am thrilled that you love science, especially since science can be difficult sometimes. I think my greatest achievement in my work was 1) my co-discovery with the Shoemakers of the comet that hit Jupiter, 2) my book 'The Starlight Night' about my finding relations between the night sky and English Literature. 3) Answering your letter. May all your dreams come true except for one. This way, you will have something to strive for." In overall very fine condition.
