Nobel Prize-winning German physicist (1858-1947) who pioneered the understanding of quantum theory; his Planck's constant is ubiquitous in the relationships of fundamental particles and calculations involving their interactions. ALS in German, signed “M. Planck,” penned on the reverse of a 5.75 x 4 German postal card, March 14, 1943. Letter to a pastor, in full (translated): "I was deeply moved to read your announcement to the members of the congregation from the 11th of this month. If I were in Berlin, I would have participated without fail in today’s church service in the parish hall. As things stand, however, I can listen to your commemorative address only in my thoughts, and I would like at least to express after the fact my gratitude for your work in your holy office, work that is so valuable precisely in these times." In fine condition, with a missing upper right corner tip.
