American magician (1861-1918), born William Ellsworth Robinson, who attained fame after adopting an 'exotic' Chinese persona under the name 'Chung Ling Soo.' Soo is best remembered for his final performance, during which a bullet-catching trick that went awry resulted in his death. Ink signature in English and Chinese, "Go slow, you will live longer, Chung Ling Soo,” on an off-white 7.25 x 2 slip. Affixed to a same-size card and in fine condition.
