TLS as president, one page, 6.5 x 8, White House letterhead, November 17, 1936. Letter to the Hon. Joseph C. Grew, American ambassador to Japan, in part: "I am sending you herewith a copy of a letter I have just written to Priscilla St. George. She is a cousin and a niece of Warren Robbins. I know that if she calls you will be glad to do anything you can to make her visit to Japan a happy one." Nicely double-matted and framed with a portrait, coin, and nameplate to an overall size of 17.5 x 14.5. In fine condition, with the coin detached from the display's backing. A particularly noteworthy piece of correspondence, as Grew was the American ambassador in Tokyo at the time of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.
