Description

Hendrix opens for The Who at London's Saville Theatre

Scarce original program for the Jimi Hendrix Experience's first concert at London's Saville Theatre, supporting headliners The Who, produced by Beatles manager Brian Epstein on January 29, 1967, four pages, 6 x 9.5, featuring vibrant psychedelic cover artwork by Simon and Marijke. The program features outstanding images and information on the performers: Jimi Hendrix Experience ("A couple of months ago the name of Jimmy Hendrix was unknown, and now his first release 'Hey Joe' has made the Jimi Hendrix Experience a household word"); The Who ("The World's Most Sensational Group"); The Koobas; and Mike Quinn. In fine condition.

In attendance at this historic show were Eric Clapton, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Spencer Davis, Jack Bruce, Paul McCartney, LuLu, and Linda Keith, who had originally recommended Hendrix to Chas Chandler. Chandler became Hendrix's manager, helping to launch him into superstardom. A historic, early program from one of the Jimi Hendrix Experience's first major concerts, and Hendrix's first major performance in London.
