Pope from 1513 until his death in 1521, known as a patron of art and literature; in 1517, he was the primary target of Martin Luther and his publication of the 95 theses against the sale of indulgences. Rare manuscript DS, signed with his papal mark, "T," and endorsed, "placet et ita mandam," one page, 7.75 x 11.5, no date. An untranslated pardon of a murderer assented to by Pope Leo X with his papal mark and the endorsement, "placet et ita mandam [we agree and command so]." In very good condition, with light staining, and show-through from repairs on the reverse.
