Nobel Prize-winning physicist (1868-1953) who was the first to isolate the electron and measure its charge. ALS signed “R. A. Millikan,” two pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.75 x 7.75, Twentieth Century Limited letterhead, October 5, 1927. Letter to Dr. Osborne, in full: "Morgan handed me your kind invitation this noon, but you will readily see that I have 'played Hookey' more than any child has a right to do already, and so I simply couldn't stop on my way from Europe longer than was absolutely necessary to do the things that had to be done. So, two and a half hours after I received your kind note I was perforce on this fastest train going West. The next time I am in New York I hope to have time for some of the things I want to do." In fine condition, with two paperclip impressions to the top edge.
