Exceptional personal check, 8 x 2.75, filled out and signed by Ruth, "G. H. Ruth," payable to "N.Y. American League Base Ball Club" for $26.40, August 13, 1942. Impressively double-matted and framed with a crystal-clear portrait of Ruth during his final season with the Boston Braves, to an overall size of 20 x 22; a window in the backing reveals "N.Y. Yankee Baseball Club" and "Army Emergency Relief" endorsement stamps. In fine condition. Throughout 1942 teams around Major League Baseball joined in fundraising efforts for Army-Navy relief funds, the USO, and a baseball equipment fund for American servicemen. Ruth was a key participant in many of these fundraising events, frequently appearing as a player-coach in charity games. A superb check from 'The Babe' made payable to his former ball club.
