Description

Pope, born Ambrogio Damiano Achille Ratti (1857-1939), who reigned from 1922 until his death and issued encyclicals condemning communism, fascism, and racism. Uncommon hand-illuminated apostolic benediction, signed "Pius PP XI," one page, 13.25 x 19.25, bearing an affixed circular portrait of Pope Pius. The apostolic blessing, in full: "Most Holy Father, Margaret, Katherine, Regina, John, Leo and Charles Lougrhan, humbly prostrate at the feet of Your Holiness beg one special Blessing." Signed at the conclusion by the pope. The blessing is affixed to a same-size cardboard mount. In very good condition, with trimmed edges, light soiling, a crack/tear to the left edge, and a less obtrusive tear to the right edge.
