Extremely rare original 23.5 x 30 lithograph of President Grover Cleveland greeting the Chicago White Stockings before their world tour of 1888-89, published by the Orcutt Lithograph Co. of Chicago in 1888. Players depicted include Hall of Famer Cap Anson, along with Ned Williamson, Bob Pettit, Fred Pfeffer, John Tener, Mark Baldwin, Jimmy Ryan, Tom Burns, Tom Daly, and Marty Sullivan. The lower border is captioned: “Grover Cleveland, President of the United States, bidding farewell to the Chicago Base Ball Club upon their departure for Australia.” Impressively matted and framed to an overall size of 32.5 x 39. In very good to fine condition, with light staining and soiling, and somewhat extensive professional cleaning and restoration.
