ALS signed “A. Tennyson,” one page, 4.5 x 5.5, May 3, 1856. Letter to "My dear Mann," in part: "Your 'Vindications' have arrived & been re-read with pleasure. Many thanks. I hope it will do something to still that yelping of puppies wh. disturbs the would-be attentive reader. I like it better than when I first saw it—it is a good & full analysis." A segment in the middle of the letter has evidently been excised, and the two halves applied to a slightly larger backing sheet. In very good condition, with light soiling, and light staining along the seam between the two halves of the letter.
