Description

Three items: a glossy 8 x 10 photo of George R. Caron, the tail gunner, the only defender of the twelve crewmen, aboard the B-29 Enola Gay, signed in black felt tip; a glossy 10 x 8 cardstock photo of pilot Paul W. Tibbets waving from inside the Enola Gay cockpit, signed in blue ink; and an FDC bearing a cachet honoring the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II, signed in blue ink by Tibbets; cover is stamped “First Day of Non Issue” because the 'atomic explosion' postal stamp was rescinded by the US Postal Service after protests from the Japanese government. In overall fine condition.
