Description

TLS, one page, 8 x 10.5, January, no year. Written from Big Sur, California, a letter to Jack Hiner, in part: "Just wrote a note to my friend Bezalel Schatz in Berkeley, the man I am doing the silk screen book with, to send you six or eight more paintings for the show. Hope that will be enough. When the show is over and you see what reaction there is to my work I'll discuss further plans with you. I may want to send most of my work to Paris—just sent a few the other day as a try out. I think I have much more chance there than here, frankly. What you suggest is too wonderful. I wouldn't think of letting you handle the paintings for nothing—not at all. It seems to me the least you ought to take for your labor (to say nothing of good will!) is a third. I honestly don't think the prices are too high. Buffano and Schatz sold quite a few for me these last three months or so, and got top prices. Remember the prices of butter and eggs and judge accordingly. Before the year's out the dollar may only be worth a nickel. I will certainly bear you in mind as regards my friends who are painters—we know at least four or five excellent ones. But I have tremendous doubts about Minnesota—maybe you will disillusion me. Will see Emil to-morrow and get all the news." In fine condition, with three file holes to the left edge.
