Flown 1.5 x 1 swatch of insulating tape recovered from the Liberty Bell 7 capsule, housed in a small plastic pouch and affixed to an 8.5 x 11 statement of authenticity signed and dated by the Liberty Bell 7 expedition leader, "Curt Newport, 13 March 2013." The statement: "I certify that this section of insulating tape is an actual component from the Liberty Bell 7 Mercury spacecraft (McDonnell Capsule No. 11), flown into space and lost as sea on July 21, 1961. These artifacts were recovered along with the spacecraft on July 20, 1999 and removed during the restoration process at the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center in Hutchinson, Kansas." Includes a satin-finish 10 x 8 photo of the Liberty Bell 7 being recovered by helicopter, signed and inscribed in black felt tip by the original recovery pilot, "To Jeff, Hunt Club 1 with a very heavy Liberty Belly 7, 21 July 1961, The best of everything, always! Jim Lewis, Command Pilot, Hunt Club 1." In overall fine condition.
