In part: "Our sister Commandery of New York will, on Saturday next, bear to his last resting place all that is mortal of their beloved commander, of that Grand chieftain, who twenty years ago, after years of trial, after countless battles, led us to victory and re-established our grand Union of States. To honor the memory of our deceased Companion, the greatest soldier of our country, General Ulysses S. Grant, this Commandery will parade as a body in the memorial procession on Saturday, August 8. Every Companion in and near San Francisco is urged to parade with the Commandery on this occasion; let us, by our full ranks, testify in a small degree, our appreciation of the ability, our admiration for the character, of our old leader, our late Companion."
