Czech-born French composer (1770-1836) who was a contemporary and lifelong friend of Beethoven; today he is best remembered for his substantial early contributions to the wind quintet literature and his role as teacher of pupils including Franz Liszt, Hector Berlioz, and Cesar Franck. ALS in French, signed “Reicha,” one page, 4 x 6, February 16, 1834. Untranslated letter to "Monsieur Viallon," addressed on the reverse of the second integral page in Reicha's hand. In very good condition, with moderate creasing and staining, heavier to the integral address leaf.
