TLS signed “Yours sincerely, Margaret Thatcher,” one page, 8.25 x 11.75, 10 Downing Street letterhead, April 2, 1990. Letter to Hannah Trace and Sally Giles, in part: "The Government and the Service authorities fully share your concern for the safety of all our Armed Forces personnel and civilian employees, and their families, in Germany and elsewhere and that this is treated as a matter of the utmost importance. We have implemented a number of changes in security arrangements in Germany in recent months, including some affecting car number plates. Security measures are, of course, more effective if they are not given publicity and for this reason I won't go into detail in this letter. Your fathers will, however, have been fully informed of the changes and some of them will no doubt be apparent to you next time you visit your families in Germany. I hope that this goes some way to reassure you." Thatcher adds the salutation in her own hand, as well as a brief line at the conclusion: "I quite understand your worries, but every possible precaution is being taken." In fine condition, with a crease to the upper left corner, and a light stain to the left edge.
