LS signed “J. A. Garfield,” one page, 7.75 x 9.75, February 20, 1874. Letter to Dr. John Peter Robison in Cleveland. In full: "Yours of the 17th inst is received. I should be very glad to oblige Brother Errett if I could, but I am not able to do so. A debt was due me on the 1st of January, which, if I had been paid I could have accommodated Isaac, but I had to grant an extension of a year. I am therefore short. All the family send love to you and yours. I hope you will come to see us before the Winter is over." In fine condition, with intersecting folds. Reverend Isaac Errett was a longtime friend of Garfield and delivered the eulogy at the fallen president's funeral in Cleveland on September 26, 1881.
