TLS signed “Jim,” two pages, 6 x 7, personal letterhead, June 29, 1958. Letter to famed Hollywood agent H. N. Swanson, in part: "I am deep into Gatsby, to reread it, and by one of those funny coincidences, it came on live on TV the night your letter came in. In spite of one of those gruesome-gladsome performances by Jeanne Crain, Robert Ryan came so close to Fitzgerald's conception that I was able to sense what you were getting at. Tenney, of course, is no romantic Gatsby, being too viperishly bent on his own ends, but the necessity for particularizing his torch, giving the rationale of it, and the dramatic point that it leads to, is there just the same, and I think I am already in a fair way of knowing how to project it…Getting back to yourself, I do hope you connected with Milton Krents, a fine agent as I think. I'll send you, when copies come in, a new story I have out in Jack London's Adventure Magazine, as possibly saleable for a TV show." In fine condition, with a corner crease and staple holes to the upper left.
