Original vintage color glossy 5 x 5 photo of President John F. Kennedy, First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, and six of the Mercury Seven astronauts with their wives in the Yellow Oval Room of the White House in May 1963, taken by official White House photographer Cecil W. Stoughton. Astronauts seen in the image are Gordon Cooper, Wally Schirra, Alan Shepard, Scott Carpenter, Gus Grissom, and Deke Slayton. Reverse bears "A Kodak Paper" watermarks, a pencil notation, "C170-2-63," an affixed Stoughton return address label, and a handwritten caption by Stoughton: "Mercury astronauts & wives (Glenn absent), living room on 3rd floor." In very fine condition. This photograph derives from Stoughton's personal collection, and was retained by him as his own file copy. Provenance: The Estate of Cecil W. Stoughton, Bonhams.
