TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, August 11, 1938. Letter to Miles W. Jones, in part: "I was powerfully interested in what you suggested about that Edgar Bergen. I shall be awaiting further advices. I had no expectation of making an address in New York State during the forthcoming campaign. I do not believe the State chairman or the National Committeeman would favor it. I have had suggestions from various Republican clubs in that territory. I will keep Mr. Gilbert Hughes' name before me in case I happen to be here, when he is in San Francisco. I have no doubt I would greatly enjoy meeting him." In very good to fine condition, with binding holes along the left edge, and a light block of toning from prior display.
