ALS, one page, 4.25 x 6.75, personal Waldemere letterhead, August 17, 1881. Letter to influential magnate and philanthropist Cornelius Vanderbilt, in part: "It seems necessary that you and I should have fifteen minutes amicable conversation within a couple of days. I called at your office in New York to day & learned that you were in town yesterday, and returned to Newport. Will you have the kindness to telegraph me here, saying where I may call on you for 1/4 of an hour." In fine condition. An interesting association piece.
