Description

German artist (1891-1976) who was one of the principal figures of the Surrealist and Dada movements. TLS in French, one page, 8.25 x 10.5, February 12, 1962. Letter to Ladislas Segy, in full (loosely translated): "I will be in New York in the month of April and will not fail to visit you, and finally I will bring you something in exchange for the little yoke in ivory. I know I'm late, but you must know how difficult it is for an artist of my genre to take the pen (and the machine to write attached to this pen). In the end I hope you do not want me late and I send you my cordial greetings." Ernst makes several corrections to the text in his own hand. In fine condition, with some light creasing to the lower right corner.
