Oscar-nominated, Russian-born actress (1876-1949) best remembered for her portrayal of Maleva, the old fortune teller in the 1941 horror classic The Wolf Man. TLS signed “M. Ouspenskaya,” one page, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, November 14, 1938. Letter to Mrs. H. L. Dowd, in part: "Here I am back from Hollywood. I hope you will enjoy seeing me again…let's look forward and get together with our usual gang…Charles Boyer is simply a beautiful, charming pal of mine. He said to me last that it seems that it's our destiny to play together. The Director was understanding, creative and kind. In other words, I enjoyed this work very much. I liked the part too, and I enjoyed flying above the clouds. Believe me, I will find every slightest excuse to avoid the train for the sake of a plane." In fine condition. Accompanied by an unsigned modern glossy photo.
