Hotel registration card from the Chateau Marmont Hotel in Los Angeles, 6 x 4, December 20, 1957, filled out in fountain pen by Karloff with his party's name and address, "Mr. & Mrs. Boris Karloff, 1 W 72, N.Y.C." The top line and right side are filled out by a clerk, noting a rate of $350 per night. In fine condition. Karloff's residence at 1 West 72nd Street in New York City is better known as The Dakota—an iconic home to the rich and famous, and the location of John Lennon's murder. Exterior shots of the building were used in the 1968 film Rosemary's Baby. The Chateau Marmont, an equally famous landmark on the opposite coast, figures prominently in many artistic works, and is remembered as the site of John Belushi's overdose. This registration card is thus a unique piece that weaves together several pop cultural threads.
