Soviet composer (1906-1975) whose fifteen symphonies occupy a place of central performance in the orchestral literature of the twentieth century. Outstanding matte-finish 10.25 x 12.5 photo by B. F. Stein affixed to its original 15.5 x 19.5 mount, signed on the mount in black felt tip in Cyrillic, "D. Shostakovich, 21 March 1975, Moscow." In fine condition. A fantastic example dated a little over four months before he died. Shostakovich is very scarce in signed photos, and this is by far the largest we have ever had—the handful of others have been postcard sized!
