Scarce partly-printed DS as president, signed “Z. Taylor,” one page, 21.5 x 16.75, November 28, 1849. Four-language ship's paper issued to "Edwin A. Luce, master or commander of the Ship called the Superior…lying at present in the port of New Bedford bound for Pacific Ocean and laden with Provisions, Stores and Utensils for a Whaling Voyage." Boldly signed in the center by President Taylor and countersigned by Secretary of State John M. Clayton. The white paper seal affixed at center remains fully intact. In very good to fine condition, with toning from prior display, a small chip to the top edge, and light show-through at the corners from old tape on the reverse. Any Taylor presidential document is quite uncommon, as he served only 16 months before suddenly passing away on July 9, 1850; these highly displayable four-language ship's passes are an especially desirable format.
