Erickson portrait of Rothwell for the Philharmonic Orchestra of Los Angeles, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To Miss MacDonald, Season 1919-20, Walter Henry Rothwell.” In fine condition, with light silvering to darker areas of the images. Accompanied by a vintage signed portrait of his wife, Elizabeth Wolff Rothwell. In the summer of 1919, Rothwell became the first music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, chosen by founder William Andrews Clark, Jr., after the position was declined by Sergei Rachmaninoff.
