Description

Grouping of five Prince concert tickets for shows in Detroit, Michigan, in 1984 and 1986, ranging in size from 3.25 x 2.5 to 6 x 5, including: an unbroken pair of tickets for the opening concert of the Purple Rain tour on November 4, 1984, held at the Joe Louis Arena; a ticket for the second night of the Purple Rain tour on November 5, 1984, also held at the Joe Louis Arena; and a ticket and ticket stub for a concert on June 6, 1986, held at the Masonic Temple Auditorium as part of the Parade Hit n Run tour. Includes a white sweatshirt, likely size large, with the front bearing a profile image of Prince against a blue sky and the words, “Prince and the Revolution,” with the back showing a birthday cake and reading: “Happy Birthday, Prince, Coco Arena, Cobo Arena, Detroit, MI, 6-7-86.” Also includes a rare Limelight proof copy of 'Parade' on VHS, consisting of footage recorded at Detroit's Cobo Hall on Prince's 28th birthday, June 7, 1986, with Audio Plus Video International label listing running time "55:55" and date "9/19/86." The front tape label is annotated in black felt tip, "Prince Parade, '86." This is a highly uncommon recording given that the 'Parade' footage was never officially released. In overall very good to fine condition, with creasing to the Masonic Temple tickets. Prince's legendary 1984-85 Purple Rain tour opened up with seven straight Detroit shows at the Joe Louis Arena between November 4-12. When Prince returned with his Parade Hit n Run tour less than two years later, Detroit and New York were the only two cities to have two-night concerts. From the collection of Prince’s former assistant and accompanied by a letter of provenance.
