ALS, one page, 5.5 x 9, December 5, 1972. Ginsberg writes on the reverse side of a letter addressed to him by a college student who is "sickened and anguished about Watergate" and is wondering how he can regain trust in elected officials, in part: "I've answered your questions to some extent and said what I could say in writing, See Allen Verbatim, a book, McGraw Hill, Nov. 1974, 268 pps…epilogue. I can't understand why you want to regain trust in 'your' elected leaders. They're a bunch of shits for the most part & they're not really 'yours' or mine, they're belonging to whoever has money to buy them. Wise up! Meditate! Destroy your ego! Destroy America's ego! Then we'll be wiser." Ginsberg adds vertically along the left edge: "Make America meditate & slow down. You do it yrself." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in his own hand by Ginsberg, who incorporates his signature into the return field.
